History That Never Was

On Monday, I shared the eleventh prompt from the Big Pink Book. If you guessed that I was going to do something with blue doors, you’re absolutely correct. (It was probably pretty obvious.)

Even though the image at the top left is a birdhouse, it had a similar shape and dimensions as the door at the bottom left, so I decided to use them both as doors. I used them to write a drabble, which I managed to land at exactly 100 words on my first try by keeping a close eye on my word count as I went.

I’ve posted the first few sentences in the image here, which read: “Two blue doors, alike in dignity, one navy blue, one sky blue. What’s the difference? Only the world.”

With the Shakespeare reference in the first sentence, this almost feels more like a poem than a drabble, and I still might try out that option, as I feel like I crammed a bit too much into the drabble. But we’ll see how I feel about it when I type this one up.
