Fun for Friday: Meow Wolf Images from the Ossuary

On our recent roadtrip, we ended in Denver, where my youngest sister really wanted us all to go see Meow Wolf. She had previously been to the one in Santa Fe and enjoyed it, and I’d heard great things about it from my friends. So we went!

If you’re not familiar with Meow Wolf, it’s primarily a multi-artist art installation, but there’s a story in the art and the layout. The Denver Meow Wolf is also called Convergence Station, and it involves four alien words having collided with one another.

This week’s selection of pictures are from the Ossuary section. I’ll provide more details below!

The first image is of a sculpted skull wearing a crown of dark red roses and smaller skulls, with a star above the center of the crown. The skull is mounted on a wall colored with mottled pastels.

The second image is a human-looking face surrounded by wavy and curly hair extending out of the frame, wearing a very elaborate collar of three tiers of softly pleated fabric. The face, hair, and collar are varied shades of blue and look almost luminescent, and the whole portrait is on a dark red background.

The third image is of a stainless-steel surface containing six small domed displays (and portions of two displays at the upper right and left that are less discernable). The top center display contains a white ear or possibly a large tooth. The two displays at left and right below that feature rings of human teeth. The two displays at left and right below that appear to contain some sort of white bone fragments, though neither is identifiable as to what bone it might represent. The bottom center display contains a long white piece with many filaments or hairs extending from it, making it look a bit like an unusual insect.
