History That Never Was

TV Recommendation: Wednesday

As probably no surprise to anyone who knows me, I loved the new Wednesday series on Netflix. Jenna Ortega is perfect as the lead character, and I enjoyed most of the supporting characters as well. (Especially Enid. Enid and Wednesday’s shared room is basically the warring halves of my soul–cute and colorful vs. dark and macabre.)

In addition to just being aesthetically perfect, I also liked that the plot kept me guessing. Jeremy and I kept running tallies of how many suspects we had as we watched the show, and that number (and the characters it represented) changed frequently. And without any spoilers, the big reveal was SO GOOD.

Also unsurprising, I want to run a game in this setting, but I’m still trying to figure out a few things about the setting, like … what are the students who aren’t “fangs, furs, scales, or stoners”? What sort of classes do the students take OTHER than botany (the only one we see)? Where are the other teachers/adults?

Many questions to be answered, and I hope we’ll get a second season to answer them and continue this fantastic series!
