TV Recommendation: Ms. Marvel

Cover art from two issues of Ms. MarvelIf you haven’t been watching Ms. Marvel, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I am a big fan (as you might perceive based on these signed issues on my wall), so I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. Now that it’s here, it’s easily one of my favorite, if not my ABSOLUTE favorite of the Marvel shows that Disney has been putting out.

Even though it’s got an origin story vibe (and we’re pretty well all tired of seeing those *cough* Spider-Man *cough*), because it’s not a story that everyone knows and differs slightly from the origin story in the comics, it feels fresh and new. Seeing Kamala figure out her powers (training montage!), and learning to cope with the fact that she can now be a hero like the superheroes she’s been a fan of, is a total delight! In fact, one of the words I would use to describe so much of this show is that it’s got so much joy in it!

There is also a lot of pain, of course, but the balance between them has been lovely, and I can’t wait to see more of Ms. Marvel in the future!
