June 2021 Recap

Our first trip to the zoo in fifteen or more months had a stop to visit the flamingos!

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 150
Acceptances received: 3
Rejections received: 64
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 90
New Submissions: 21
Stories out at the end of the month: 150

An oddly parallel month, with the same number of stories out at the beginning and end of the month. June was very productive for new pieces–those 21 new submissions were 9 poems, 9 flash pieces, and 3 short stories. And I also received 3 acceptances–2 poems and 1 short story.

In June, I revised 15 of the remaining MerMay pieces, wrote my two flash pieces for contests, and revised the four stories I planned to (which also adds up to my 21 new pieces). I also wrote first drafts of werewolves and october, and started the first draft of grave. And I’ve just started revising werewolves. I also finished my book review (and wrote one ahead).

In July, I need to:

  • Write three flash pieces for contests
  • Write another flash piece
  • Write grave and bookswap
  • Revise werewolf and october
  • Proofread stories for a DefCon One publication
  • Write a book review

Much lighter this month, but I think it’ll be a nice break, especially as we’re now able to do things like go to the zoo for walks on the weekends!
