Fun for Friday: The Big Pink Book Prompt 10, Free Spirit
On Monday, I posted the blank version of the tenth prompt in the Big Pink Book, which had themes of joy and happiness.
Of course, I had to take it in a different direction.
A while back, I wrote a drabble titled “Tarot Esoterica: The Black Lagoon,” which appeared inĀ This Book Has Ghosts in It. I really liked the idea of the Tarot Esoterica being an alternative tarot deck and writing drabbles for at least the Major Arcana, if not the entire deck. So my response to this prompt was to turn “Free Spirit” into another card from the Tarot Esoterica.
The photo of my story posted here only has the first couple of lines. I tracked the word count after I finished each paragraph, and without trying too hard, my draft came in at 101 words. I made a couple of edits (some of which you can see in the second sentence) to bring it to 100 words, and then I edited a little bit more when I typed it. I haven’t submitted this one yet, which is why I’m only showing a small bit of it!
The text below the title reads: “Some practitioners have noted that the Tarot Esoterica tends toward darker cards. The Free Spirit breaks from this trend pattern. Depicting amorphous figures basking in the rays …”
I’d love to hear how you used this prompt!
