History That Never Was

My story “Best of Both Worlds” in Chimerical Remembrance is one of my favorite stories I’ve written. It manages to blend dark elements of a selkie story with a hopeful ending.

If you’re a regular reader of the blog or my stories, you know I enjoy writing stories with things in the water that want you dead. The selkie in this story might not be quite that murderous, but she comes to understand the need for pain and bloodshed, even if she’s not the one inflicting it. I think, perhaps, her softer nature in this story is what allows for it to have the hopeful ending it does.
