September 2025 Recap

Landing in Reno last week

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 48
Acceptances received: 3
Rejections received: 19 (+2) (+1)
Stories withdrawn: 1
Resubmissions: 19
New Submissions: 3
Stories out at the end of the month: 43

My September wound up pretty busy, so I didn’t quite get in as many submissions as I might have liked. I did get three new pieces done and had three acceptances (all drabbles), so that was nice! I had a couple of pieces where the markets didn’t respond and one that closed, plus a poem I withdrew for my collection.

As for my August to-do list, I revised all of the flash fiction contest pieces, worked on daughter, started proofreading the novel, did some more freelance editing, and reviewed a couple of books. I didn’t get to the rest of the list, thought I did write nine poems in one day during Flights of Foundry!

For October, I want to try to:

  • Finish first drafts of moving and guardian.
  • Revise daughter and deer.
  • Write a flash fiction piece.
  • Write some Drawlloween drabbles.
  • Write two book reviews.
  • Do the layout for the novel.
  • Edit more conference videos.

I’ve got a bit more travel this month, but I think this looks managable.
