April 2025 Recap

One of my favorite pics I took at the Just B show. The silhouetted hands were perfectly placed!

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 53
Acceptances received: 1
Rejections received: 14 (+2)
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 22
New Submissions: 7
Stories out at the end of the month: 60

I had thought my submissions in April had been a little higher than March, but it turns out they were actually one less. But that’s pretty darn close! I had one acceptance in April, but the contract for that isn’t signed yet. And I got several new pieces out into the world, all from the contests in the early part of 2025 (three poems and four flash fiction pieces).

For my April goals, I did revise those four flash fiction pieces and three of the four poems (I didn’t really like the fourth, so it’s on pause for a bit). I got more videos edited, did some of the craft book exercises, and did two editing passes on the academic article for my client. I wound up not working onĀ Sure Shot 3 at all, but I very recently figured out what I needed to change in the second (and last) scene I wrote, so I’ve got a path forward on that when I get back to it! And my pace on the craft book exercises was a bit slower than planned because some of them have taken a good amount of time, while others are quicker.

In May, I’m going to TRY to:

  • Revise two more flash fiction pieces.
  • Work on a short story (guardian).
  • Work on more craft book appendix exercises.
  • Write a new flash fiction piece.
  • Work on some poems and drabbles.
  • Write a couple of book reviews.
  • Edit more Flights of Foundry videos.

A lot of these goals are a bit more flexible, because I don’t know how much I’ll get to in some cases. But I’m going to TRY!
