Fun for Friday: Weird May History

Time for more weird history to inspire your writing or maybe just pique your curiosity!
As usual, I start with The History Place, which always has the fullest coverage for every month. You may need to pick through the list to find truly weird events, but I’m certain they’re there!
Meanwhile, Historic UK has a list of one event per day in May, all of which took place in relation to Great Britain. Again, not every event is odd, but there are some good ones here! History Extra has a list of only eight events, but they go into a bit more depth for each one.
Finally, if you’re interested in fun facts about May 1, also known as May Day, Treehugger has you covered!
Even if you don’t write historical fiction, you could choose an odd event and transport it into a different setting, time period, genre, etc. See if any of these events gives you a great idea for a story, poem, or even a novel!
