History That Never Was

On Monday, I shared the blank version of this page, and today, you get to see what I did with it!

Here’s what my notes say:

Hymnal of Transformation (with an arrow pointing to the books)

music as magic = lyramancy

RyA theme -> predicament

what if you have to finish a hymn if you start it, but they tend to be earworm-y

what if you don’t know what (or who?) you want to become?

“The first tenet of lyramancy is that if you begin an incantation in song, you must complete it.”

This was basically me brainstorming a drabble based on the title of one of the books, coming up with a term for music as magic and then positing a couple of questions for the drabble to address. The “RyA theme” is short for Reach Your Apex, a weekly community drabble-along where authors write a drabble based on a prompt and submit it to be turned into a BlueSky post from Reach Your Apex!

I ended up titling my drabble “The Song of Transformation,” and it looks at exactly what I scribbled on this page of the Big Pink Book.

You can come up with your own idea based on the sticker on this page or write something of your own about lyramancy, with or without the premises I suggested above. If you do, I’d love to hear about it!
