History That Never Was

Time for more weird history to inspire your writing or maybe just pique your curiosity!

We’re starting this month’s weird history with The History Place, for historical events for every day of the month. Not all of them are strange, but there are certain to be gems hidden amongst the events!

The History Channel has an article on The Surprising History of June, which includes the Tunguska Event, Coney Island Mermaid Parade, and more!

Finally, Historic UK offers up some unusual June folklore events, which include some events on fixed dates and some that vary!

Even if you don’t write historical fiction, you could choose an odd event and transport it into a different setting, time period, genre, etc. See if any of these events gives you a great idea for a story, poem, or even a novel!
