History That Never Was

It’s nearly August (where does the time go?), so it’s time for the August 2023 writing prompts!

August is “Smaugust” in the art world, which is a dragon-related challenge. The words in the first column come from @fariis_art‘s Smaugust list for this year. If you want to add another factor to your prompts, keep in mind “dragons” when looking at that first column.

If you’d prefer to look for something less fantastical, column 2 comes from the Kick in the Creatives “31 Animals August“. For this column, try applying the words to an animal of your choosing that fits the word there.

Finally, if you just want plain, ordinary words without any associations, the third column is from the Kick in the Creatives general August prompts.

And of course, this month we’ve got a monarch butterfly from the butterfly house at Woodland Park Zoo. We try to swing through there every time we’re at the zoo, because I love getting to take really amazing butterfly and flower photos! The butterflies aren’t always flitting about, but they’re often perched on flowers … or the ropes that line the paths!
