History That Never Was

A new story

While I don’t think I’m going to finish one story by the deadline, I managed to sit down last night and bash out a full rough draft of a different story. I think this may be the first time that I’ve gotten an entire first draft out in one sitting.

I was listening to a couple of my Pandora stations while I wrote, and two songs that came up caught my attention. Interestingly, these both are related to the story I was working on, at least marginally.

For those playing along at home, trying to guess what might be forthcoming from my pen, the two songs were “Mr. Mastodon Farm” by Cake and “The Sea” by Morcheeba. I’d never heard the first of those before last night, which kind of made it all the more eerie.

So yeah. Strange inspirations. And the story ended up a far cry from what I originally thought I would write for this particular call for stories. I’ll talk more about that once Jeremy has been through the rough draft and given me some feedback. 🙂
