September 2014 recap

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 4
Acceptances received: 0
Rejections received: 5
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 7
New Submissions: 0
Stories out at the end of the month: 6

Numbers are a little better this month, though still not awesome. I have two stories that should be out for submission right now that aren’t (one looking for a reprint market, the other looking for a first time market), but I’ve been feeling super slammed at work recently, which has then made me not want to do much when I’m done with work for the day. Things appear to be calming down for a little while, though, so that’s promising.

But the long and the short of it is that I haven’t been writing. I’ve been worldbuilding for NaNoWriMo, and I’ve been editing my brains out on other peoples’ stuff. But nothing of my own. Hoping that can change this month.

I did have a short story published this month (HURRAH!), in the first issue of The Big Adios, which you can find on Amazon here. My story is called “Veli tis Artemidos,” and it’s based very loosely on an incident that took place in Beer City, Oklahoma Territory, in 1889. At least I’m fairly certain that the real event didn’t involve Greek witchcraft and gods, but you never know! At any rate, it was a fun chance to get to meld history and fiction, and you know I can’t resist that!
