After I posted my list of 2020 short story publications, I had two more flash fiction pieces come out! Both of these were Drawlloween stories from 2018, which might have been my most successful monthly writing challenge to date–I’ve sold 13 of the 31 pieces I started that month! “Maija Spencer, Internet Witch” is a […]

The new story that appears in What If I’m a Merfolk? is “Big Fish,” which is a very short flash piece. It’s told in an unusual style for me, in that it’s a first person story in which the narrator responds to unstated questions from an unseen and unheard second character. But for this story, […]

It’s my favorite time of the year: Halloween! I’m ready for lots of spooky writing prompts and other autumnal delights! This month, the words in the first column come from Millennial Boss’s Simple Drawing Prompts. October is my favorite month of the year, because it culminates in Halloween. It’s also a month with a whole lot of art challenges themed to the spooky season. So this month’s writing prompts come from Mab’s Drawlloween Club, Inktober, and Sari’s Artober. There’s a little bit of repetition amongst the lists, but for most […]

My flash fiction piece, “Brick-Red Love” went live on The Arcanist on April 12th. You can check it out here! This was one of my Drawlloween stories, based on a prompt of “bride.” In the context of Drawlloween, I’m sure it was meant to be Bride of Frankenstein, but I took a lot of my […]

With October gone, I can now report on my Drawlloween project! In the course of the month of October, I wrote every day of the month, using the prompts found here. I wound up with four poems, fourteen completed flash fiction pieces, and thirteen incomplete short stories. I’ve already sent three of the four poems […]
