History That Never Was

We’ve still got almost a week of December, but it’s time for the first monthly writing prompts for 2026!

This month, I’ve got one list that’s decidedly winter themed, while the other two have fewer winter-specific prompts.

Column 1 is Doodlewash’s January 2026 prompts. The list included a few plants and animals I wasn’t familiar with, so I’ve linked to the Wikipedia articles for each of those!

Column 2 is the January Doodle Prompts (year unknown) from Cute Little Paper. These are decidedly the most winter themed of the prompts!

Finally, Column 3 is the January 2024 Spoonflower Doodle-A-Day list (which I couldn’t find on their blog), as shared at SuperCuteKawaii. This site has a handful of other prompt lists from 2024, some of which are for art and others of which are for planning throughout the year. So if you’re looking for a couple more words, give that site a look!

There isn’t much overlap this month, but there are two words on different lists that are close enough, so I marked those with asterisks. You can skip that prompt on one day, write on the same piece on the two days with that prompt, or try two different takes on that prompt. Or whatever seems good to you when they come around!
