October and November wound up being very chaotic for me, with a lot of traveling, K-pop events, a wedding, a gaming convention, and some very intense day job work. Coupling all of that with the fact that I’ve been on the edge of burnout for a while, and you can probably understand why I’m combining my October and November recaps and publications into a single post.
I had four pieces accepted in October and November, two of which have been published already. “Monster Under the Bed” and “Three Yellow Flowers in the Botany Lab” both appeared as Reach Your Apex Community Drabbles. I also had a flash fiction piece accepted for Nature: Futures and a short story accepted for The Colored Lens. In addition to that, my short story, “Bicycle Built for Two,” came out in What Rides at Night (technically at the end of September).
I didn’t do a lot of writing during October and November, but I’ve started working on a new short story recently, and that’s been exciting to research and write. I’m also currently writing the first draft of a role-playing game, the idea for which came during the gaming convention. My goal is to have that ready to playtest in just a couple of weeks, followed by revisions, more playtesting, and then making it look good for publishing! The premise of the game is dark and somber, and it’s meant for one-shot play rather than a long-running game, so it will wind up being a fairly short game manuscript.
Other than those things, I’m hoping to work on a couple of short stories that I started writing but haven’t finished yet, finish the revisions on another short story, and proofread the stories for a collection I plan to release in March 2026. I also need to get back in the swing of editing convention videos and watching other convention videos. But I’m trying to not overload myself, especially with a deadline for the RPG (based on when I have an opportunity to playtest it).
