Writing for Shared Worlds at WriteHive Online Conference
During the WriteHive Online Conference in July, I was the moderator for a panel called “Shared Worlds: Writing Multi-Author Series.” I was excited to be on this one since a lot of my writing is in the Cobalt City Universe, which currently has six authors actively writing in the same shared world.
The panelists talked a bit about finding other authors who are good fits for shared worlds and also about finding shared worlds where they felt like they were a good fit. We also talked a lot about the things related to writing in shared worlds that authors should consider before getting involved in one, including things like royalties, copyright, and conflicts among authors. But we also got to share a lot of joy about the benefits of having a group of authors creating the world and characters and bouncing cool ideas off one another.
If you want to check out this panel, you can find it on WriteHive’s YouTube channel. It’s just over 53 minutes long and offers the perspectives of three different shared world authors, including myself!
