History That Never Was

October is my favorite time of year, because it’s the official beginning of spooky season. And it’s time for the October 2025 writing prompts!

This month, I decided to do things a little bit differently! I found a total of FIVE lists of prompts for the month of October. However, because everyone has spooky on the brain for October prompts, there’s a lot more overlap. So I have four columns of words to accommodate that, rather than flagging all of the repeated and close words.

Column 1 is entirely from Mab’s 2025 Drawlloween daily prompts. Mab always makes my favorite list for October!

Column 2 is primarily StudioLamiette’s 2025 Lamiettober list. However, this list has some rest days, which I’ve filled in with prompts for those days from veryberrydraws’ Stilltober, which are also not on a spooky theme.

Column 3 is carmen.dmdesign’s 2024 Witchtober prompts (I didn’t realize until after I typed them all up that this was last year’s list, but they’re still good prompts!). I did grab one replacement word from veryberrydraws’ list, because there were a LOT of mushrooms floating around on these lists.

The fourth, bonus column, is stephanie.artdesign’s Natura Noctem prompts, which are all flora and fauna (and insects, which might not count as fauna). You may want to look up some of these to learn more about the natural phenomenon in question!

As always, you can use all the prompts or pick and choose. If you want to use reoccurring words in pieces across more than one day, that’s allowed. In reality, there are no rules. Just have fun and write!
