June 2025 Recap

Some lovely purple flowers at the zoo that caught my eye!

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 61
Acceptances received: 2
Rejections received: 36 (+1)
Stories withdrawn: 3
Resubmissions: 23
New Submissions: 1
Stories out at the end of the month: 45

My June numbers were a little bit lower than they’ve been in past months, in part because I’ve continued to be super busy this past month. I got one new piece out in June, which was a drabble written for the Reach Your Apex weekly community drabble. I also sold a second story, for which the acceptance came in at the end of the month, so the contract hasn’t been signed quite yet!

For my June goals, I finished writing “deer” but haven’t revised it yet. I’m also still working on “guardian” and “boy.” I wrote one flash fiction piece and the aforementioned drabble, plus another drabble that hasn’t gone out on submissions yet. I decided to do only one of the two planned collections, which has been assembled and almost entirely edited. And I’ve edited a ton of Flights of Foundry panel videos and wrote a book review.

In July, I’m going to try to:

  • Finish drafting “guardian” and “boy.”
  • Revise “deer.”
  • Write two or three flash fiction pieces and some drabbles.
  • Finish editing the collection and create the cover art.
  • Edit more videos from Flights of Foundry.
  • Write two book reviews.

I’m participating in a flash fiction contest and a writing challenge this month, so hopefully those will result in some additional new words!
