May 2025 Recap

At the baseball stadium for a K-pop concert, and they made the scoreboard relevant to the show!

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 60
Acceptances received: 1
Rejections received: 30 (+3)
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 32
New Submissions: 2
Stories out at the end of the month: 61

My May numbers are a tiny bit up from April, which is exciting! It’s also kind of surprising, because May was a busy month for me with three K-pop shows (two of which were half-day long events) and a K-pop movie! I also had one acceptance, which was my drabble “Tower Twister” for the Reach Your Apex community drabbles.

For my May goals, I revised two flash fiction pieces, worked a little on guardian, started on a new short story (deer), revised some miscellaneous pieces I had on hand, wrote a couple of book reviews, and edited more Flights of Foundry videos. I didn’t really work on the craft book appendices because I found that a lot of what I was creating with those was not entirely useful to my process.

For June, I’m going to try to:

  • Finish writing and revise “deer”
  • Finish drafting “guardian”
  • Work on another short story (“boy”)
  • Write a couple of flash fiction pieces
  • Put together and edit a pair of upcoming collections
  • Edit more videos from Flights of Foundry
  • Write a book review

It’s a shorter list this month, but I know the collections are going to eat up a bit of time, so I’m pacing myself a bit on writing new stuff. But I’ve got a few short stories on my plate, which is exciting!
