History That Never Was

Time for more weird history to inspire your writing or maybe just pique your curiosity!

Historic UK has a great list of historical events, including that one that changed the beginning of the year from my birthday to January 1st! Just think, we could have been celebrating my birthday right at the beginning of the year!

If you’d prefer some darker inspiration, Malorie’s Adventures has a short list of historical horrors from January. There are mostly events that caused one or more human deaths on this list, so proceed with caution!

Even if you don’t write historical fiction, you could choose an odd event and transport it into a different setting, time period, genre, etc. See if any of these events gives you a great idea for a story, poem, or even a novel!
