My November 2024 Publications

I had two new pieces out in November this year: a flash fiction story and a poem.

My flash fiction piece was “We Dream in Color,” a post-apocalyptic story with queer characters, in Toad Shade Zine. This one came out of a one-hour flash fiction writing challenge and was inspired by an image of a road sign in a bleak desert landscape with very little color present. I ran with the idea of the color leaching out of the world, and the story came out quickly!

My poem was “An Alphabet of Forty-Two” in Star*Line. This one was part of a casual poetry challenge to write to a different prompt each day for a week. The prompt for this story? Write a poem in exactly 42 syllables. So I did! I combined the challenge with a prompt from the July 2024 Writing Prompts post, which gave me the alphabet theme, and I took it in a sci-fi direction about communication between languages that might not even use the same alphabet.
