The Empress in A Tarot of Sorcery and Sages
The Empress tarot card represents expression, creativity, and nurturing, as well as motherhood and/or fertility. In A Tarot of Sorcery and Sages, this is represented by a haiku and a poem.
The poem, “A Spell for Docile Dryads,” looks at a balance between nurturing nature and nurturing the humans who depend upon nature for their livelihood. It’s a topic I hope to explore further in the future with some stories, but the poem was a good place for me to start with it. The untitled haiku (beginning with the line “leaves as a canopy”) is a nature-themed poem, aligned with the fertility aspect of The Empress.
Both of these poems are exclusive to A Tarot of Sorcery and Sages, where they sit alongside other poems and stories reflecting each of the Major Arcana of the tarot!
