Drabbles in Dead-Starred Futures

My collection of dystopian science fiction, Dead-Starred Futures, included a handful of drabbles, stories told in exactly 100 words. All five of these stories were also reprints, which saw their initial publications in a variety of venues.

“Litany” was a piece inspired by an abandoned building covered in graffiti that was presented to us in a horror writing class. I took my piece in a dark sci-fi direction. This drabble originally appeared in Dark Stars, as did “The Problem with Schematics” (also in this collection), which I wrote around the same time as “Litany,” though I can’t entirely recall the inspiration for it.

“The Fall of Ocrone” was the first real drabble that I wrote, around the same time that Martian: The Magazine of Science Fiction Drabbles was looking for submissions. Luckily enough, they loved this drabble about resource extraction from a planet and published it back in 2021.

“Twin Suns” was another of my early drabbles, this time on the slightly weirder sides of things, involving a princess and gravity. It originally appeared in Flash in a Flash.

Finally, “Win-Win Situation” is a dark cyberpunk story involving a choice and a solution. It originally appeared in Punk: Cyber/Bio/Diesel/Steam Punk Tiny Tales alongside similar stories!

If these tiny stories sound intriguing, you can find all five, along with longer dystopian sci-fi pieces, in Dead-Starred Futures!
