The Non-Player Review of Video Games: Ranking the NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3

Like many gamers, Jeremy picked up a copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 pretty much as soon as it came out. In fact, I think that game was the impetus for him getting a new laptop, with specs that could handle the game.
Since it’s on his laptop, rather than on a console, I hear it more than I can see it–when he plays console games, I can crane my neck from my laptop and see the TV. When he plays games on his laptop, he’s sitting with his screen perpendicular to where I sit, so he has to lift and rotate his laptop if he wants me to see what’s going on.
So I’m ranking my top three romanceable NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3 more based on what they sound like and some of their dialogue, than anything else!
3. Shadowheart: I dunno, she sounds nice. And she sacrificed so much so she could be there. She just makes me want to take care of her and make her life nice.
2. Asterion: Is there anyone who does not love that sassy vampire man? The fact that he’s only number two on my list may be somewhat surprising, but he always seems like he’s got so much DRAMA in his life, and that gets exhausting after a while.
1. Gale: “I have a cat, a library, and a weakness for a good glass of wine.” As soon as those words came out of his mouth, I yelled across the room, “Marry that man!” Then, I said, “oh, I did.” Because Jeremy had cats, a ton of books, and, in his very own words, “I like wine.” I do get the impression that Gale might be a little judgy–I’m pretty sure he yelled at one of the other NPCs, possibly even Shadowheart, but cats, a library, and wine are definitely my idea of a good time!
There are other romanceable NPCs, I guess. I hear a lot of people thirsting after Karlach. Or Lae’zel. Or at least Lae’zel’s clothes? I dunno. These are the three I like.
