Fun for Friday: End of Summer Writing Prompt

As we reach the end of the summer (for students, at least), I thought an interesting fiction writing prompt might be one of the questions that younger students often write about early in the school year: what did you do on your summer vacation?

However, for this, make it fictional! Pick a character you’re writing or create a character for this prompt, and depict them during a portion of their summer vacation. If they’re not the sort to get a summer vacation, you could have them dreaming about what they might do if they had a free summer. Or they could be on a different vacation.

Alternately, what if your character had to lie about what they spent their summer doing? Use that as inspiration for a story! Maybe they have to tell someone what they did and get them to believe it, or maybe they’ve already lied about it and are now sweating to maintain the lie! Go wild!
