Coming Later in 2024: Two Stories in Rescuing Curiosity!
During the 2024 WriteHive online conference, they announced the table of contents for the upcoming Rescuing Curiosity anthology, and I’m pleased to say that TWO of my stories made the list!
“It Can’t Be Sunday Everywhere at Once” is a sci-fi story involving refugees on a long-term space voyage and how one young woman came up with a way to allow members of disparate religious traditions to celebrate their holy days without undermining the work needed to keep the ship going. While the science is fairly soft in this story, the basis of it (different worlds having different calendars based on their orbits and local customs) is based in how multiple inhabited worlds might have to come together.
“One Person’s Nightmare” is, in spite of the title, not a horror story but rather a contemporary fantasy piece about a woman returning to her father’s boyhood home and learning the truth about a nightmare she had as a child involving that place. This story has many elements rooted in my own personal history, including the recurring nightmare and the details of the house, but other elements are purely fiction. As such, it’s an intensely personal story for me, and I’m so glad to have found it a great home!
There will be more details on the Rescuing Curiosity anthology on the WriteHive anthologies page in the future, and I’ll also post updates here when I have them!
