“The House Provides” in Doorways in the Gloom
“The House Provides” is a story I’ve been trying to write for years. It started out with a very solid and creepy image, and I have pages of notes on what I wanted to do with it. In the end, though, I wound up with a different story than I’d imagined, though it still has a bit of the feeling of the original.
It’s a cursed object story, and that object is one of the things that’s stuck with it all the way through the versions. Technically, the actual object changed once or twice, but the idea that it was centered around an object with a specific effect remained.
“The House Provides” is only available in Doorways in the Gloom, which is available in print and ebook formats.
