If you’re looking for a potentially very quick writing prompt, check out this idea to write a micro story by filling in the blanks with an excuse. It may seem a little silly at first, but if you read through the post, it links to another post that explains this exercise and how it works for other writing.
I say this one is potentially very quick, because it’s likely that you can write one in minutes. But when you start drilling down deeper into this idea, it’s very much about making every word count and do a lot of heavy lifting. And then this can suddenly become a prompt that requires a lot more thought and attention to detail than you first realized!
