I had two new pieces out in January 2023, a poem and a short story.
The poem was “Embrace,” published in Star*Line. This is a short poem in what seems to be a very unofficial form, in which the first words for eight of the lines are pulled from the eight-word middle line. The poem name should have “octo” somewhere in it, which makes using this format for this particular poem all the more fitting. (I saw a name for it once but haven’t been able to find it again!)
The short story is “Best of Both Worlds,” a selkie story published in Dangerous Waters. This one is a bit longer than a lot of what I’ve written and had published in the past, but it really needed the space to work in the wonderful way it does. I’m so happy to have placed it in a perfect home, too!
