Spooky Stories and Novella
If you’re looking for some spooky Halloween reads, I’ve got a few options available!
Volatile Figments is a collection of six dark contemporary fantasy short stories in which the protagonists deal with the supernatural. They generally tend toward dark contemporary fantasy rather than horror, so they’re spooky without being terrifying.
Doorways in the Gloom is my second collection of spooky stories and poetry, and a few of the stories in this collection trend a bit more toward horror. Doorways in the Gloom also contains content notes for a few of the stories and poems, to go along with the general warning that this collection contains a lot of death.
Finally, Camp Haunt is an epistolary young adult horror novella, recently rereleased in ebook and print. It uses letters home from campers, campers’ journals, camp documents, and newspaper clippings to tell the story of a creepy summer at camp. This one is definitely on the spooky and surreal end of things.
Volatile Figments and Doorways in the Gloom are only available as ebooks, but Camp Haunt is in ebook and print! Most of the stories, poems, and the novella are teen appropriate, though you may want to look at the content notes for Doorways before purchasing it for a teen.
