History That Never Was

One of the stories in Volatile Figments is “After School Special,” and it’s about a ghoul and her best friend. At the beginning of the story, the two girls have drifted apart, due to one of them moving away. When she gets back to her old school, things have changed a lot. She doesn’t realize just how much they’ve changed until her best friend’s older sister takes her to see her best friend, who’s become a flesh-eating ghoul.

“After School Special” is a DARK story, dealing not only with cannibalism, but also teenage pregnancy, drug use, and murder. It’s easily one of the darkest stories in Volatile Figments. But if that’s your jam, you should check it out there–it’s the only place this story has been published to date!
