June 2019 Recap

Two adult Wookie cosplayers, one child Wookie cosplayer, and a traditional Spider-Man cosplayer from Washington State Summer ConBy the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 87
Acceptances received: 0
Rejections received: 56
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 68
New Submissions: 3
Stories out at the end of the month: 101

Big numbers in submissions for June, though it wasn’t coupled with any acceptances. I’ve got a few pieces out right now that I think are in their second looks phase, so perhaps the acceptances will roll in again in July.

I finished two stories and a poem in June. The stories were rock and thing, as planned. The poem wasn’t entirely planned, but it turned out pretty nicely. And I also managed to work on the story revisions I had planned and got those stories re-circulating after a brief break.

For my other June plans, I’m right on track with my Lady Huntsman novel, except that it looks like it might be a novella, not a full novel. There’s still a chance that the second half of the book will suddenly get much longer, and I know that I’ll be adding word count when I revise, as a lot of the scenes right now are just dialogue without much else. I backburnered alien after realizing it needed a lot of work, but I finished the first draft of moon and got most of toad written. And I finished my book review and the next book to review.

For July, I need to:

  • Finish writing the Lady Huntsman book
  • Revise and submit moon
  • Finish first drafts of toad and boots
  • Write two flash pieces for a contest
  • Write three other flash pieces or poetry for fun
  • Review a couple of books

Plenty of stuff to do!
