Fun for Friday: Generate an Espionage Mission
In the course of working on a new story, I realized that I had the main character in mind, but I didn’t quite know what I wanted them to do. So I looked for a random espionage mission generator, and found an excellent one via NeverEngine. With this and the die roller on my phone, I was able to pull together a mission idea. The one I generated worked pretty well as I rolled it, but with a few gentle tweaks to the idea, I was able to figure out how to use this particular character’s strengths in order to make it a compelling story.
The generator also suggested a secondary character, and while I have a few secondary characters I could throw into this mess, one of them was a character I’ve used in a story with this protagonist before, and I didn’t see a good way to use that character differently in this story. The other potential secondary character is one that I’ll probably use for a different story later on. So I decided to come up with a new secondary character instead, to spice things up a bit.
