July 2017 Recap

By the numbers:

Stories out at the beginning of the month: 25
Acceptances received: 0
Rejections received: 22
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 21
New Submissions: 2
Stories out at the end of the month: 27

Pretty normal month on the submissions/rejections front. I had two stories come back that I’m holding to self publish, and I had another story with a long and complicated history that I’m finally able to submit again. I also finished  two new stories this month, burn and violin, and both are out on submission.

Otherwise, I got a good amount written on B&G2 (though not as much as I would have liked), wrote one book review, finished the first draft of a new story (clones), and finished burn and violin. I started writing a story one day at lunch, and got about 1,700 words done in one sitting. So that got added to the schedule too. And I read three new books on my flights to and from Kansas City, so I’ll have a bunch of new reviews coming out soon.

In August, I plan to:

  • Finish writing the first draft of B&G2.
  • Outline B&G3.
  • Write 31 tiny pieces for Write Like You’re Alive.
  • Revise clones.
  • Finish monsters and start revising it.
  • Write a new Cobalt City story.
  • Start another new super hero story (that may be Cobalt City also).

Wow, that’s a lot to get done, especially since I have a convention (Spocon) in there as well. But I can do it, if I stay focused!
