Fun for Friday: Kansas City Facts and a Story Idea

I’ve been in Kansas City this week for work, so I decided to share this list of 30 fun facts about Kansas City!

My favorite item on this list, which is something I never knew before, is that Kansas City ignored Prohibition. Digging a little deeper, it seems that the State of Missouri as a whole rejected state-wide Prohibition three times before the 18th Amendment came along for nation-wide Prohibition. But in Kansas City, even the 18th Amendment didn’t do much, as the city just ignored the new law of the land. You can read more about it here!

As for me, between this fun fact and Kansas City’s reputation for great jazz music, I think it’s the perfect setting for a jazz-era story of some sort! Now I just need to figure out a good hook, and then write it!
