August recap

By the numbers:
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 3
Acceptances received: 0
Rejections received: 2
Stories withdrawn: 0
Resubmissions: 3
New Submissions: 1
Stories out at the end of the month: 5

And we’re back in the short story saddle, with a new story finished, polished, and submitted! On top of that, a couple of other stories that came back as rejections have gone back up with a new layer of polish on them.

I’ve also got another story in the works, which isn’t quite done, but the end is in sight. It may or may not be in a submittable form by the end of September. It’s a bit far afield from what I normally write, so I’m a little uncertain if I’m far too detailed, not detailed enough, or just right. But I really need to finish it before I decide that!

Next project after I finish the current story is to go back and look at a really old story that has been heavily rewritten, and then rewritten again, and then tweaked a bit more. I think it might be moving on to the great story pasture in the sky, or at least moved off of my plate until I figure out what need to happen to really fix it.

And I’ve made a little bit of progress on the NaNo world building. It’s not quite ready for me to write an outline, but at least I’ve talked through some of my ideas with the hubbie, and have reached a point where I have the vaguest ideas of what the plot will be. So that’s something, but it’s also on the agenda for September, to get ready for November!
