March Recap

As we’re off to the not-so-wilds of Michigan tomorrow, I’m posting my March recap today. I’m pretty darn sure I’m not going to get much writing done over the next few days.

By the numbers
Stories out at the beginning of the month: 4
Acceptances received: 0
Rejections received: 1
Resubmissions: 2
New Submissions: 0
Stories out at the end of the month: 5

What’s not reflected above? Two book reviews, plus madly storming through The Hunger Games, which was quite addictive. I stayed up past my bedtime to read on a couple of nights. I didn’t do any work on the novella, deciding that I really need to focus on that exclusively for a while. I also did quite a bit of copyediting for Mad Scientist Journal (hubbie is the editor), and even made a style guide for it. Oooooh, fancy!

I didn’t actually manage to write a full story this month. I wrote scraps of stories, and revised parts of stories. But nothing really got done. I primarily blame preparation for ACUS, though I suppose I didn’t really spend all that much time on prep. I did end up sacrificing a couple of writing nights to writing up characters instead, though. And I spent some other nights just being a lump. But sometimes, you have to do that. But it does go up in the fail column on the Write1Sub1 attempt.

In April, I’m planning to focus on edits for the novella, and not stress about writing too much. If a story pops into my head and demands to be written, great. If not, then I’m going to edit the heck out of that novella and get it to some beta readers by the end of the month.

I’m also going to try to update here a little more often. We’ll see how that goes!
