Too many ideas, not enough time

I woke up this morning from a dream about vampires, and I realized by the time I got to work (and was still mulling over the details) that this dream could form the basis of a novel/setting. Because what I really needed to do was go and get myself worked up over writing a vampire (possibly supernatural romance) novel.

Right now, I’m doing well if I get one night a week of writing in. Obviously, this is not ideal. But it’s the reality of my over-packed life. It’s also the reality of my over-packed brain–too many nights, when I have time to write, I spend it doing something slightly more decompressing.

I did NaNoWriMo in 2009, and I managed to get through my 50,000 words. I only wrote one short story in November of 2010, but that was also when Jeremy’s gall bladder went on strike. So I call that a reasonable excuse. But the point is that I know that I can write nearly every day for a month. It’s just about getting the proper motivation to do so. And then juggling everything else around that.
